We popped to the supermarket for provisions before setting off in earnest, as things close at lunchtimes on Sunday around here. Then it was along the pretty valley, uphill all the way. It started out as false flat and gradually became steeper…..and steeper….until we could no longer ride! I pushed my bike for about 3km, which is also no mean feat. NOTE that there is another road you could ride up, which looks like it follows a more gradual gradient.

That pretty much finished us off, but the rest of the ride was mostly gently undulating so we just about survived. We’d scheduled a detour to Predjama castle, which was all good apart from Komoot sending us down a very steep, rocky track for a few Ks - again, beware if you use this tool, or follow our route. Quite the culture shock arriving at the tourist hell of the castle itself - it’s an impressive spot but we pretty much just grabbed an ice cream and then got the heck out of there.

It was a fairly easy ride to the campsite after that, although we were pretty toasted! Fortunately, they have a bar with beer and chips. :). It’s called Camping Pivka Jama and is absolutely massive, albeit spacious. Can’t imagine they ever get full!
