Vicenza to Borso del Grappa
Wednesday July 18, 2018, 35 miles (57 km) - Total so far: 4,929 miles
(7,933 km)
We popped into Vicenza first thing and were glad we did - it’s incredible!! The main square is bordering on over the top - with a real mix of architecture. Add to that a maze of tiny streets - very appealing indeed. We had a quick coffee and were then on our way.
Not so many cycle paths today, and some busy sections. We did re-navigate round one section but really just for our own enjoyment. Italian drivers continue to give us plenty of space, and to wait to pass…...or maybe we’ve just been desensitised by the horrors of New Zealand!!
We were wowed again on entering Bassano del Grappa. You don’t realise it’s anything much until you cross the old bridge (currently being fixed). Then the views of the beautiful river and the mountains are just wow.
We cycled on a few kilometres further to rest our heads at the Santa Felicita campground in Borso del Grappa. Beautiful views of the mountains on the approach, with tons of paragliders. The camp site is a nice spot with great facilities for 22 euros - can’t complain. Lots of mountain bikers and paragliders! We decided to stay an extra night as we were feeling pretty tired, and Ed has a bad cold.
