Segamat to Yong Peng
Tuesday February 6, 2018, 46 miles (74 km) - Total so far: 3,743 miles

We are firmly in palm oil country! Highway 1 isn't proving the most fun to ride along, but it isn't too bad either. Between towns, it's even fairly quiet. Plenty of trucks though. Glad we're not doing super-long days at the moment! The riding was fairly easy, physically. It's not pan flat, but the undulations are fairly gentle.
We were in Yong Peng just after 12, and scouted around for a while looking for the various veggie restaurants marked on google. We eventually found the 'Variety Vegetarian' which is opposite Hotel 29. Excellent buffet once again, tons of fresh veggies and tofu in a selection of tasty dishes.
We were planning on staying at Hotel 29 but rooms were a little pricey at 93RM for a windowless double / twin and significantly more for the posher rooms. They didn't actually have any doubles available, and we needed to wait until 2pm for a twin.....so we decided to look around. We were glad we did, as the H3 hotel has nice (if small) rooms (with windows!) for 68RM. Hot and cold drinking water are available, toiletries, towels, it's comfy and clean....we've paid more for less, that's for sure! Bikes safely inside too. Great.
We weren't feeling very enthusiastic about going out for dinner but it all worked out really well. We ate at the friendly Z one cafe (great fried rice, roti jala and ice tea for 16RM in total) and one of the staff told us that there was a night market happening this evening. We headed over - and it was great! Really buzzing, with loads to look at and lots of food to sample. Malaysia is definitely winning us over!
