Bahau to Segamat

Monday February 5, 2018, 44 miles (70 km) - Total so far: 3,697 miles

(5,950 km)

The first part of today's ride, along route 10, was fairly quiet until we reached Gemas. Then we turned onto route 1 and the trucks started, but the shoulder disappeared! Brilliant. We had a bit of a wobble about continuing, given that we'd originally planned to catch the train from Gemas anyway. But we thought we should at least see if it improved, and it did! Decent shoulder for most of the way and light traffic again until we got closer to Segamat. The last 10km were fairly busy but the riding is fine, thanks to the shoulder.

We had lunch at a veggie place (Lin Hui - marked on google) right next to Caltex on the main strip. Typical Chinese buffet - cheap and tasty. We even took some takeaway for a mid-afternoon snack - why haven't we done that before!

We are staying at the Golden Lake hotel. Very nice room for 83RM, and the bikes are in the meeting room. The English speaking guy who was summoned to help us (the owner, possibly?) said it wasn't the first time they'd had cyclists so they knew what to do!

Yet another unassuming restaurant dishes up delicious food at a ridiculous price!
