Tam Ky back to Hoi An.....
Thursday November 23, 2017, 36 miles (58 km) - Total so far: 2,112 miles
(3,400 km)
We knew the weather forecast was dreadful, but the news that it has made it onto the BBC was the final straw. We thought about cycling another day south to Quang Ngai to jump on the train, but it wasn't clear that we'd be able to get the bikes shipped from there.... 66km to Quang Ngai, full of uncertainty, or 66km back to Danang, where we have confidence it will all go to plan? If we rode back to Danang, we could stay a couple more nights in lovely Hoi An too - it was a no-brainier.
We couldn't face the monotony of yesterday's route, so headed to a road closer to the coast. This proved to be a great idea for 2/3 of the ride (small villages and even some sea views) until the road turns into a building site sand-fest (they are building yet more enormous resorts - just what the area needs). A bit of back tracking and rerouting popped us back onto the 'boring' road - which was very welcome at this point!

We picked the Areca homestay for a change of location, and were glad we did. Lovely big room, super-friendly hosts and breakfast is included. Ed did get locked in the bathroom at one point, but the kind hosts sprang into action and released him promptly (kicking the door in was required!!)
Lunch was at Dingo Deli - nice place but very mediocre (and expensive) food
Dinner was at Am vegetarian restaurant - lovely place and good food, extremely
friendly hosts
