Ljubljana to Kaminska Bistrica

Thursday August 2, 2018, 24 miles (39 km) - Total so far: 5,250 miles

(8,448 km)

Nothing remarkable about the riding today, but we both really enjoyed it. Maybe that's what happens when you take two days off, AND manage not to overdo it with off the bike activities! We left Ljubljana via Decathlon as we needed a new tyre. The road was fairly busy until Kamnik, where we headed to Lidl to buy lunch. Kamnik is a nice enough town to look at but everything seemed a bit closed. Once we'd headed out the other side, things were quieter save for a few trucks - all of whom passed wide and slow.

The road climbs up the valley from Kamnik, but was rarely arduous. We had superb views of the mountains most of the way. It did rain a little bit, but we'd dried out by the time we arrived at the campsite. We're staying at Kamp Alpe, which is right at the foot of the chairlift up to the famous plateau, Velika Planina. On appear I quite liked the sound of this beautiful green pasture occupied by a few sheep and their shepherds....but we saw someone dressed as a cow, and someone else in traditional dress coming down from their day's work entertaining tourists....perhaps it isn't for us!

The campsite is good though! Small and set amongst the trees. It's quite the antidote to the enormous Ljubljana resort! Quite hard to believe we were in Ljubljana just this morning.....
