Papakura to Pukekawa: partly by train

Wednesday February 28, 2018, 17 miles (27 km) - Total so far: 3,870

miles (6,228 km)

I've been a bit under the weather, so we took the train down to Pukekohe, and then cycled from there. The riding was pretty straightforward, although the road was certainly not deserted! Lots of trucks, although most were very courteous. Shoulder came and went. The hill up to Pukekawa was long but not too steep - certainly got the juices flowing again after 3 weeks off.

We stayed at the wonderful Shekinah farm - recommended. We camped on their lawn with a wonderful view, but they do also have cabins. Lovely people - and you're welcomed into their lounge and kitchen. It's a bit like a warmshowers really! Lots of lovely touches - toiletries and towels in the bathroom, information leaflets, lots of crockery and free bits and pieces in the kitchenette. $14 with a BBH card, $18 without.

Not a bad view
