Mae Hong Son to Pang Mapha / Soppong
Tuesday October 3, 2017, 41 miles (66 km) - Total so far: 524 miles (843
km)
We knew this was going to be epic and it didn't disappoint. Long climbs with some very steep sections. I did walk a couple of times but mostly due to stopping on a hill that was too steep for me to get started again! It was a bit cloudy at the viewpoint, but very atmospheric. We were pretty broken by the time we arrived in Pang Mapha.
We stayed at Little Eden guesthouse - lovely little bungalow for 400 baht. Fan and private bathroom, twin beds. Rustic and didn't have mosquito nets....also had some 'wildlife' in the bathroom but that's the nature of jungle living! The guesthouse has a wonderful deck above the river, where it would be easy to while away the hours. And a small pool. And a reasonable restaurant. Just stay there, ok?!
Amazing lunch at Busaba. Lovely spot overlooking the Main Street, fabulous
food, friendly people. Tons of veggie options.
Dinner at the guesthouse.
Pang Mapha has a number of guesthouse and quite a few restaurants. And a 7-eleven.
We finally met another cycle tourist! I didn't ask for her name, stupidly, but she's French Canadian, and is cycling the Mae Hong Son loop in the opposite direction.
