Chom Thong to Hot

Tuesday September 26, 2017, 19 miles (31 km) - Total so far: 317 miles

(510 km)

It's not much fun along the 108, but it is easy. Lots of fast trucks, but plenty of room. A few sights from the road but no great scenery.

We arrived too early to check in at Huenhughod resort, but the friendly guy in reception let us leave our bags. We grabbed an iced coffee at Cafe Hod, a nice enough spot but the wifi wasn't working. Then we found the vegan restaurant that is marked on google for lunch (just before the roundabout as you ride into town from Chom Thong. Look for the yellow bunting with red writing - not super obvious at this one though!) Standard format 'jey' restaurant, although small and only a few dishes to choose from. Very good food though, and the lady kept trying to give us more for free! We were stuffed.

We had a wander around the cool market and bought some bananas and donuts, before finally checking in. It's a very nice place. I guess a couple of quid difference is actually a big difference in Thailand. It is a little way out of town, which (along with the general difficulties of eating in these small towns!) was enough to put us off a return visit for dinner. The 7-eleven at the petrol station is very well stocked though, so we aren't feeling hard done by!

Big day tomorrow - our A-goal is to get to Mae Sariang, but that may be wildly optimistic! There's a resort marked on google maps at just under half way, and we've read reports on hear of another at just over halfway. And we have our tent if it comes to it!

Jey restaurant in Hod.
