Uttaradit to Si Satchalanai historical park
Sunday September 17, 2017, 39 miles (63 km) - Total so far: 56 miles (89
km)
We breakfasted on cereal and yogurt from 7 eleven and then bid farewell to the Friday hotel. We set off along the Main Street, highway 102. The road was good, quite a bit of traffic but a good shoulder so we felt safe, and it was pretty easy going. We got to Si Satchalanai town, joined the 101 briefly and then turned onto the 1201. We should have followed this all the way to the historical park, but somehow we turned off onto the 1305 then 1294, which made it quite a bit further! Lovely rural countryside though.
We stayed at the Downhill resort, which we liked a lot. Spotless bungalows with fridges, free wifi, private bathrooms and a shared kitchen. And a lovely garden as a bonus. It's really close to one of the entrances to the park too.
We're not doing very well with finding veggie street food, so we went on a bit of a mission to find 7 eleven for more provisions. It was quite a long way away (recommend others stock up in Si Satchalanai town!) but we did find instant noodles, which we then made using the kettle in the shared kitchen (much easier than the whisperlite!)
The ride back along the West side of the river (the road closest to it) was well worth the trip - very pleasant indeed.
