Gudo to Faido: 812m ascent

We did almost nothing yesterday! It rained quite a bit, so we mostly watched TV shows in the tent. It was just what we needed. I didn't sleep well last night and still felt rested this morning!

A good ride today. Ed has managed to download a GPX of eurovelo 5, and to chop it into manageable segments that don't break our GPS. We're also getting a lot better at spotting the signs for swiss route 3! Although we did see a bit of gravel and a few cobbles, the riding was mostly pleasant. Lots of quiet roads. It's a bit of a mean ride in that it goes up for most of the day, and gets steeper towards to end. But we didn't find it too bad. The scenery gets more and more impressive too which takes your mind off things!

We are staying at the Gottardo campsite just outside Faido. It's another small site, although has a bar and a pool. It's quite close to the main road up the valley, but not too bad noise-wise. 32CHF for two of us - not too bad either.

After existing on pasta for a long while due to time constraints and tiredness, it was very refreshing to have the energy to cook a curry this evening! There are three supermarkets in Faido, alas no Aldi / Lidl but we managed to find reasonably priced ingredients in Denny. It's strangely cold this evening......I think we're acclimatising for tomorrow night at 1400m!!

But before that....the Gotthard pass. Hope we make it!
