Cape Palliser to Pirinoa

Aside from two worthwhile detours to Ngawi and Lake Ferry, this was all about retracing our steps. The weather was pretty bleak when we set out, and we had a couple of soakings, but had completely cleared up by mid-afternoon. Note that the hill is much steeper in this direction!

We are staying at the wonderful Gateway Motel holiday park. It's one of the nicest campsites we've stayed at, the owners are super lovely, and the roomy cabin was just $68 (compared to inferior lodgings in Martinborough for $80). There's a small shop in Pirinoa if, like us, you've been hungrier than expected. I blame the cold weather!
