We have seen plenty of cycle tourists over the last 6 weeks, and I've wondered on more than one occasion if we were too hasty in our decision to stop cycling. 5 minutes on highway 1 was enough to convince me otherwise!!

That said, we were soon off the busy road and onto the SH 63, which made for pleasant (if very straight) riding. My legs couldn't believe it was only 20K, however!

We are staying at Watsons Way lodge which is very quiet, but I imagine is very busy with seasonal workers at a different time of year. That said we got a great rate on a double room, the facilities are good and its very clean. And they have hire bikes, so our bikes are safely stowed away with them behind locked doors!

We're having a few days here followed by a few days in Blenheim to make sure we really do sample the best of New Zealand wine :)
