Dabong to Gua Musang

Tuesday January 30, 2018, 43 miles (69 km) - Total so far: 3,452 miles

(5,555 km)

What a day. We headed back to Jelawang, and then took the D29....until presented with a junction, at which point we consulted the map and decided to take a smaller backroads which followed the railway line. This proved to be an excellent choice - tough cycling with lots of short, sharp ascents but a wonderful experience. There's quite a community along there, but it's all nestled in the jungle, very appealling. Highly recommended! Once back on the D29, things continued to be very enjoyable, although the undulations did wear thin as we neared Gua Musang.....

Our GPS track can be found here (excuse the couple of wrong turns!)

We sold out and went to Secret Recipe for lunch. Decent pasta and delicious cheesecake, just what we needed! We checked out a couple of hotels: AR Raudah looked pretty smart but there really isn't anywhere for bikes. It was 85RM for a twin room. Instead, we are at the Nanyang GM hotel. It's a bit tatty but pretty clean, aircon and hot shower for 55RM (but no window). The people are lovely too, and the bikes are squirrelled away good and proper.

Gua Musang is quite big with tons of hotels and restaurants. If we had more time to spare, we'd probably have a rest as we're flagging.....however, time marches on so it's 100km to Kuala Lipis tomorrow instead!
