Kampot to Takeo

We weren't at all sure what to expect from Cambodia's roads, thanks to incredibly mixed reports! Things have started off well at least. Highway 3 is currently in good condition on this section, and was pretty quiet expect for around towns, and it wasn't too bad even then. The surface degrades as you approach Ang Ta Soam (where we saw several guesthouses) and the bumps continue once you're on the road to Takeo. Still not too bad though, and much improves as you approach Takeo.
We met some other cycle tourists en route today! A dutch couple who are nearing the end of 3 months in SE Asia. They told us they'd heard bad things about all routes Siem Reap - Phnom Penh.....but plenty of people on here seemed to manage it fine so we'll give it a go.
Not sure there's much going on in Takeo, but we haven't explored much either! we are staying at Daunkeo GH - spotless double room with fan for $8. We at lunch at Stung Restaurant - decent veggie noodles / fried rice for $3 each. Planning to have dinner at the guesthouse for variety.
