Can Tho: Boat trip to the floating market
Sunday December 3, 2017
We booked the shorter tour offered by our guesthouse. 250,000 dong each and you can pay an extra 250,000 to have an English speaking guide (we didn't because we are tight!) We were picked up at 5.15am by men on motorbikes - this was great fun! We met our boat lady at the pier, and discovered that she had brought along a helper - 10 year old Thai did the translating! Cai Rang market is pretty cool, the canal is nice but I guess we've seen a lot of 'local life' from the bikes, and the noodle workshop is excellent. Breakfast is included (pho at the noodle place plus coffee) and you then get fruit on the way home too.
Thai was funny and did a great job keeping us informed. He even spent a while trying to explain to us that they were dropping us near the hotel (no need for a motorbike) and saying 'the shopping here' and the 'hotel here' to explain we needed to walk past the market and we'd be there....we didn't have a clue what he was on about until we'd been dropped at a slightly random point on the riverside and checked out the map....then walked past the market and found the hotel just as he'd tried to explain, ha ha!
Two different staff members at the hotel have checked we had a good time and didn't have any complaints. We thought it was great.
Other than that we've done little today other than catch up with social media
and make plans for tomorrow. We had a most excellent veggie lunch and strongly
recommend that you check this place out:

I have also attempted to add it to Happy Cow, so hopefully it will appear on
there soon!
