Vieng Kham to Ban Nahin

Back in the good stuff today. As soon as we turned onto route 8, the charm returned. If only you could bypass the section from Vang Vieng! Appealing villages and stunning scenery. There's a bit of an eyesore of a cement factory at one point, but it seems to be sustaining the local community so maybe a good thing......? The road surface is a bit patchy but the climbs are very manageable. Stunning views from the viewpoint!

Ban Nahin is much more appealing once you're off the main road. We're staying at Sanhak guesthouse which is all set up for westerners - bit of a culture shock! It also feels like a palace after the last few days. Nice people and really excellent food (huge portions). 50,000 for a large fan room, nicely decorated and good bathroom with decent (hot!) shower.

Side trip to the famous cave tomorrow!
