Paksan to Phonsi

We planned to ride to Vieng Kham today, but it was so windy we were worried about being blown off our bikes and into the path of a fast moving bus! There's a typhoon in Vietnam - not sure if we're maybe catching the edge of it. The ride was overall an improvement again, with the scenery picking up, particularly after Pak Kading.

So, we're in Phonsi. Staying at the Mixay Paseut guesthouse, which is extremely basic (cold shower, squat toilet) but also extremely clean. Much cleaner that yesterday's accommodation choice, and smells far better too (don't you love Asian drains!) 50,000 kip.

We had lunch at the big karaoke restaurant just before you get into the main town. Excellent fried rice and a very sweet family. We've stocked up on a few snacks from the various 'shops', and are hoping one of the other restaurants will be open for dinner.

Hoping to get all the way to Ban Nahin tomorrow but this may depend on the weather gods!
