Luang Prabang: Applying for our Vietnam visas
Monday October 23, 2017
We grabbed some street snacks and headed to the Vietnamese consulate for when it opened - 8am. We were the only customers so perhaps we didn't need to rush! It was straightforward enough to fill in the paperwork and part with the cash ($50 for 24 hour service, 30-day visa. I think it was $55 for same day, $45 for 48 hours and $40 for 72 hours). NOTE: you have to specify the exact entrance and exit dates.
We then headed to Le Banetone for baked delights (delightful indeed, but the
coffee isn't brilliant). And actually not as expensive as you might think
(8000 kip or thereabouts for the excellent pastries).
Lunch was baguettes from one of the many stalls opposite Indigo cafe bar.
Really excellent, filling, and only 15,000 kip.
Dinner was various snacks from the night market. Try the pre-cooked plates
that they warm up for you - they are tasty and super cheap.
We also paid Lao Lao garden a visit for a quick beer. It was very quiet, and
very pleasant with all the tropical foliage and fairy lights. They even gave
us free Lao Lao......I imagine it's a bit of a party place at times!
We did do a bit of wandering but mostly just took it easy. Luang Prabang is good for that!
