A cracker of a day. The 13N is in much better shape than the 2W (on this section at least). Beautiful, gentle climb (albeit fairly long) followed by a sweeping descent. Lots of hill tribe villages, which have a different atmosphere for sure. Incredible views.

Breakfast came from the Oudomxay bakery (which is on maps.me) - excellent bricoche-like bread and great cakes / muffins.
Lunch was instant noodles.
Several restaurant in Pakmong have English menus. We picked one at random - it was fine.
We stayed at Alan / Alarn guesthouse. 80,000 for a simple fan room once again. Some people have reported terrible guesthouses in Pakmong, so I'd recommend this as a safe option.
