Lamphun to Chiang Mai
Saturday September 23, 2017, 21 miles (34 km) - Total so far: 219 miles
(352 km)
As usual, we'd bought cereal and yogurt from 7-eleven and enjoyed it in our room before departing…..not realising that the Easy Hotel also supplied breakfast snacks! Sandwiches and small parcels of sticky rice wrapped in leaves. We saved them for later :)
We headed out of Lamphun along the 1015, popping in to Wat Chamadevi on our way past - pretty cool temple. We crossed the river and dropped down onto the 4032, which starts off extremely pleasantly. Leafy surrounds with the odd small settlement to provide water and toilets. It gradually got pretty busy as we entered Chiang Mai - actually some of the least fun cycling we've done thus far but it was still ok.
Excellent lunch at Taste from Heaven.
Excellent lodging at Family Home - so friendly. Has dorms and doubles, down a
quiet street.
Excellent dinner at the Saturday night market.
Chiang Mai is overrun with tourists as expected, but still holds charm, especially in the eating department!
