Si Satch historical park to Wang Chin

Tuesday September 19, 2017, 50 miles (80 km) - Total so far: 105 miles

(169 km)

I was feeling very nervous this morning. My stomach hadn't been brilliant, so I was worrying about feeling ok. And finding toilets. I have a poor track record with the heat, so I was worrying about flaking out. I'd heard reports of dogs on the route too, so I was worrying about being chased. Spoiler - it was all fine! Fabulous, in fact.

Things got off to a good start when it seemed like everyone we encountered was smiling and shouting 'hellooooo!' and THEN we stopped to buy some donut-type items from a roadside vendor, and she hurried after us to give us a free gift of deep fried banana! Pretty much made our morning.

And my stomach was fine :) and we found a toilet at a petrol station as recommended by someone else on here, thanks for the tip!

We did get chased by a couple of dogs, but it was pretty half hearted. The riding was wonderful (thanks to CGOABer Sabine for the route!) - tropical fruit plantations and jungle as far as the eye could see. We set off at 6.45am and were here before 1, thus avoiding the worst of the heat. We found the Wang Thong guesthouse without even trying (thanks again to Sabine for posting a picture!) It's a bit on the weird side (leopard print sheets, better not to think about it too much?!) but does the job, and all for 450 baht!

We also had dinner at the restaurant directly opposite the motel. They had an English menu, and were happy to make me veggie fried rice. The younger woman spoke some English but we managed to communicate with the helpful older woman thanks to our (very) few words of Thai!

80km in Thailand and we survived. Good job because we need to survive similar tomorrow...Lampang here we come!
